This spring has been an extraordinary season for the Sephardic Jewish Brotherhood of America and the greater Sephardic community across the NYC Metropolitan Area! As the weather warmed, so too did our community spirit—with a host of vibrant events, cultural celebrations, and new initiatives that brought Sephardic Jews of all ages together.

We were proud to co-sponsor the 10th Annual Greek Jewish Festival on the Lower East Side in May, drawing tens of thousands to celebrate the rich traditions of the Romaniote and Sephardic communities with music, dancing, food, and heritage tours of Kehila Kedosha Janina. The street was packed! Just a week later, our community marched proudly up Fifth Avenue in the Celebrate Israel Parade, with our Sephardic Community Float representing the beautiful diversity of Sephardic Jewish life in America and around the world in partnership with Kehila Kedosha Janina, Congregation Mikveh Israel, Congregation Shearith Israel, the American Sephardi Federation, and the Sephardic Young Professionals Network.

This spring also saw our annual Father’s Day celebration with our Sephardic Young Families Picnic, a fun-filled afternoon featuring Sephardic foods, children's activities, and community bonding in the park in North New Jersey. We also hosted a special lecture at Kehila Kedosha Janina on the legacy of the Alliance Israélite Universelle and its impact on Sephardic education and modern identity. At the Museum of Jewish Heritage’s Mishpacha Festival, our Sephardic Community Panel featured dynamic young leaders sharing their experiences navigating tradition, identity, and innovation in the modern Jewish world.

Looking ahead to the summer, we’re excited to continue building on this momentum with a series of Young Professionals Shabbat Dinners, community book talks, and cultural programming across the city. Whether you’re reconnecting with your roots or exploring Sephardic heritage for the first time, there’s something for everyone.
