Two new major gifts for the Brotherhood, establishment of the Bensignor Family Lecture and the Esra & Harriet Pitchon Memorial Scholarship fund

We are thrilled to announce two wonderful new gifts that will enrich the life of our Brotherhood community.

Laurence (Larry) and Fern Bensignor have generously established the Bensignor Family Lecture in their will and estate planning, which will bring an annual program of learning and inspiration to our Brotherhood. This new lecture series will be an opportunity for us to come together, hear from engaging speakers on Sephardic history, culture, and traditions, and continue to grow in knowledge and connection.

In addition, Steve and Michele Herling have created the Esra & Harriet Pitchon Memorial Scholarship Fund in loving memory of their parents Esra and Harriet. This fund will help provide scholarships for community students in college or graduate school so that finances will never be an obstacle for a member to advance their education, carrying forward the Pitchons’ legacy of kindness and commitment to education.

We are deeply grateful to the Bensignor and Herling families for their generosity and vision. Their gifts honor the past, strengthen the present, and ensure a bright future for the Brotherhood.

If you are interested in creating a named scholarship, lectureship, or making a gift of stock, annuity, or bequest to the Brotherhood, please reach out to our Managing Director, Ethan Marcus, at ethan@sephardicbrotherhood.com or 718-685-0080.
