This past Spring, Sephardic life in the NYC Metropolitan Area thrived through vibrant celebrations, meaningful connections, and cherished communal traditions.

For the first time ever, Brotherhood members and friends proudly marched in New York City's Greek Independence Day Parade on Fifth Avenue. Joining thousands of participants and spectators, we celebrated the history, resilience, and contributions of the Greek community while honoring the deep historical ties between Greek Jewish and Sephardic heritage. It was inspiring to see our community represented so prominently in one of the city's most beloved cultural events.

The annual Greek Jewish Festival on May 17 once again brought together members of the Greek Jewish, Sephardic, and broader Jewish communities for a day filled with culture, heritage, and friendship. More than 10,000 people joined throughout the day, enjoying borekas, biscochos, baklava, and tons of other delicious Greek and Sephardic foods; lively Greek, Ladino, and Israeli music, educational exhibits at Kehila Kedosha Janina Musuem, and opportunities to celebrate the rich legacy of Greek Jewry. The event served as a beautiful reminder of the enduring bonds that connect our communities and the importance of preserving and sharing our unique traditions.

At the end of June, we gather for our annual Father's Day Picnic in New Jersey, one of the most anticipated family events of the year. This beloved tradition provides an opportunity to honor fathers, grandfathers, and all the men who help guide our families and community. Attendees will enjoy a relaxing afternoon of fellowship, outdoor activities, and a delicious kosher Turkish lunch featuring many of the flavors and culinary traditions that have been passed down through generations of Sephardic families.

We’ve got many more exciting programs coming up in the pipeline for the summer, including a special visiting lectorship from the Director General of the Alliance Israelite Universelle all the way from Paris, the Sephardic Rabbinic Conference and Communitywide Concert in August, and the local Torah and Taverna nights in Manhattan.
